THE STRANGER

by Aurora Becerra Granados

In The Stranger, I tried to evoke in the player an uncanny mix of calm and alienation. It’s partly inspired by my experiences of having emigrated to Canada at a young age, being caught between two cultures, and finding a certain acceptance in my unique, but at times, scary situation. This feeling is also connected to the more direct inspiration of an intense, uncanny calm I felt when looking out upon a river during a heavy snowfall in the winter of 2021. The snow had covered the river’s surface and obscured the other side, so all I saw was an endless white landscape.
